Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on your condition, the nature of the injury, how long you have had it and how you respond to treatment. A new injury sustained in the last week will typically need fewer treatments than the same injury which has been left untreated for weeks or months, so seek treatment at your earliest opportunity. We will never prescribe a set amount of treatments but will usually be able to estimate your recovery time within your first few sessions.

Can I pay for a block of treatments?

No, we do not sell a block of treatments at the moment.

What can I expect when arriving for a treatment?

The Initial Appointment will have a short consultation; consisting of a brief medical history, postural assessment and an opportunity for you to explain the reason for your visit. Everything in treatment is confidential and your information is protected under the data protection act. The therapist will listen to what you need and identify the best course of treatment for you. Most patients are given a form of bodywork (TYM/MFR) with one or two somatic movements (Yoga) to do at home. The Therapist will listen to what you want and have everything set up in the studio for your treatment.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No. If you have any of the flowing conditions we would like you to check in with your GP first.

Do you have disabled access?

No, Unfortunately there is a stair case in the building, but a home visit can be arranged in the local area.

Can I pay with credit or debit card?

Yes. All major credit/debit cards accepted.

Is the treatment painful?

MFR uses gentle sustained pressure, however TYM may cause a little discomfort, and you may feel a bit stiff and sore after a treatment for a few days, similar to what you would experience after exercise. This is a normal, healthy response. We treat everyone as an individual and if you are in too much discomfort please tell your therapist and we will discuss alternative techniques that may be more suitable for you at that time. We will also give you advice on what you can do at home to help reduce any post-treatment discomfort.

What is Myofascial Unwinding?

Myofascial Unwinding is the spontaneous movement of the body during an MFR treatment session. This movement is the body’s self correcting mechanism. It is a natural, safe and effective way to release deep restrictions due to unconscious, habitual, holding and bracing patterns both physical and emotional. It allows the therapist to see, feel and access the glitches in the patient’s unique fascial system, follow and soften through them and thereby restoring function and range.
